Our Story
A New University Built With a Clear Purpose
Thal University Bhakkar is a public sector university established in February 2022 under an Act of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab. Situated on University Road in Bhakkar — the gateway to the Thal Desert region — TU was founded with a clear purpose: to bring quality higher education within reach of the students of Bhakkar and the surrounding districts.
In just a few years, the university has grown to welcome more than 3,000 enrolled students across 18 departments spanning five faculties. The university is led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmed Buzdar, whose leadership has guided TU through its early years of growth. The campus brings together teaching spaces, equipped laboratories, a growing library, sports facilities, hostel accommodation, administrative services, student support offices, and a Jamia Masjid — creating an environment where students can focus on both their studies and their wider development.
